HP2 Sport

Announcing the 2008 GS Line
Three new models with the F 800 GS and the upgraded R 1200 GS and GS Adventure.

2008 F 800 GS

F 800GS

In 1980, BMW Motorrad invented the adventure motorcycle category with the advent of the trailblazing R 80 GS, which won the grueling Paris-Dakar year after year. And now, over twenty-five years later, BMW Motorrad has created yet another revolutionary dual-purpose motorcycle that provides unprecedented levels of desert-devouring, roost-throwing performance: the amazing 2008 F 800 GS.

With a compact 85-horsepower parallel twin engine, lightweight steel trellis frame and double-sided swingarm, not to mention a chain drive and longer front and rear suspension travel, there has never been a BMW dual-purpose machine offering such a unique blend of power, comfort and off-road muscle.

Torque is generous at 61 lb/ft, and with a six-speed gear box, switchable ABS, 42-degree turning radius, 400-watt alternator.  With a dry weight of just 392 lbs, the F 800 GS is lightweight and agile enough for precise handling, making it ideal for screaming around on the twisties or tearing through the dirt.

F 800GS

BMW Motorrad has once again reached an entire new level of engineering excellence with the F 800 GS, an adventure-hungry motorcycle that is destined to be a classic.

2008 R 1200 GS & GS Adventure

2008 R 1200 GS

Featuring more power, rugged styling and advanced technology, the 2008 R 1200 GS sets the standard for the entire adventure bike category and will be a force to be reckoned with both on the road and off.

08 R1200GS Adventure

For 2008, A  taller windshield, adjustable seat, extra wide foot pegs and optional ABS make long days in the saddle both comfortable and enjoyable.

Both GS Models Feature

5% more power, topping out at a substantial 105 bhp with a maximum engine speed of 8,000 RPM.  Revised transmission ratios also mean quicker acceleration, better low-speed traction and increased revs.

For the first time ever, BMW Motorrad is offering an off-road version of its famous ESA (Electronic Suspension Adjustment) technology. Optional Enduro ESA is designed to meet the unique needs of adventure touring, and offers several options for whatever riding condition occurs: solo rider, rider with luggage and passenger. Three damper settings, Sport, Normal and Comfort give the rider the option of customizing both front and rear suspensions to his or her specifications. There is also an off-road mode that adjusts the front and rear preload and increases ground clearance for when rougher situations arise.

The new BMW G 450 X

You've heard about it.  Here it is.

G 450 X
More information coming

G 450 X

Engine

449 cc single-cylinder DOHC 4-stroke engine
developed by BMW

The exact technical data of the BMW G 450 X have not yet been finally fixed. The maximum output is around 37 kW (50 bhp) with a best torque value of approximately 35 lb-ft. The overall weight with full tank is about 120 kg which means the BMW G 450 X is lighter than the current best weight values in this class. This value is all the more impressive because this is a vehicle with fuel injection, catalytic converter, electric starter and Euro III homologation that points the way to the future of the enduro sport.

ENDURO WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP AND GERMAN CROSS COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIP - FULL ENDURO AGENDA FOR THE BMW MOTORRAD MOTORSPORT TEAM

Munich. BMW Motorrad is getting serious. At the Milan motorcycle trade show EICMA in connection with the world premiere of the sports enduro G 450 X, BMW Motorrad Executive Vice President Development and Model Lines Peter Müller announced the official entry of BMW Motorrad in the World Enduro Championship 2008.
Tested and further developed during the 2007 season in a number of race entries, the sports enduro will face up fully to the powerful international competition for the first time in 2008 in two well-known racing series.

Under the management of Racing Director Berti Hauser, the Team BMW Motorrad Motorsport team will be battling for points in the World Enduro Championship (WEC). The services of the following riders have been acquired for this purpose: Anders Eriksson (SWE), seven times World Enduro Championship winner, Jeff Goblet (BEL), three times Belgian Enduro Championship winner and youngster Bert Meyer (GER), winner of the Cross Country Championship in 2006 and 2007.

The latter has also blocked a number of other weekends in his 2008 calendar: he will be taking part in all races of the German Cross Country Championship in the same team with cross country specialist Simo Kirssi (FIN).

The aim here is to combine the experience of die-hard experts with the youngster's hunger for success so as to achieve outstanding results through team work.

Anders Eriksson:
"For me this is like a second start in my racing career. The team already demonstrated great professionalism this year. I have now tested the BMW 450 and I am really enthusiastic. I feel highly motivated and of course I am out to achieve good results to show the bike's potential - as well as demonstrating what an experienced warhorse like myself is capable of."

Jeff Goblet:
"When I first received the offer from BMW, I was a little unsure at first. Finally, Joel Smets encouraged me to take a closer look at the whole thing. I didn't know the team or the vehicle. Initial contacts with the team immediately gave me the impression of a well thought out structure and a pleasant atmosphere. Then I was able to test the BMW 450 and it was immediately clear that this was the right challenge for me. I'm glad to be part of the team and am highly motivated."

Bert Meyer:
"It's great for me to be able to be part of the factory team at my age. I followed the BMW 450 in the GCC this year. In the European final of the XCC the motorcycle really showed its winning potential. It's a big challenge for me, of course, but I sense that the team is
